The Sensory Regulation Framework is strictly a computational data engineering and media architecture methodology. It establishes objective structural design criteria for digital media production and does not make medical, diagnostic, psychiatric, or clinical claims regarding pediatric healthcare.
What it does
Describes media structure.
The framework measures and organizes audiovisual features—such as motion, sound intensity, editing pace, color variation, predictability, and recovery opportunities—to help creators examine their design choices.
What it does not do
Diagnose or prescribe.
A Calming Index score is not a clinical measure of a child’s response. The framework does not diagnose sensory conditions, guarantee a therapeutic effect, or replace individualized advice from qualified healthcare professionals.

This work explores how transparent computational criteria can support safer, more deliberate media production. Current weights and normalization ranges are empirical starting points; broader naturalistic benchmarks and human-response validation remain future work.
